Oxford Reveal Two More Riders For Upcoming Challenge

Ahead of the forthcoming National League Challenge match when a team representing the Oxford Cheetahs come to the Island, we are happy to share the Cheetahs latest press release:

Oxford Cheetahs have announced their next two riders for their one-off challenge against the Isle of Wight Warriors at the Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde on Thursday, August 1st.

Danyon Hume will ride at No 1, while Jamie Sealey will line-up at reserve.

Hume, who celebrates his 23rd birthday tomorrow, is a recommendation of Mick Fletcher, a former Cheetah between 1980 and 1982.

Fletcher revealed: “I know Dan from when he rode motorcycle trials with my three boys, when they were younger. They rode for the South Midland Centre.

“It’s fabulous that he’s been chosen to ride for Cheetahs.”

Hume’s full-time club is Leicester Lion Cubs, where he has an average of 8.10.

Meanwhile, Jamie Sealey is the nephew of Lance Sealey, who had a couple of spells at Oxford in 1991 and 1997. Lance was a regular for the club at National League level in 1997.

Jamie rides for the Isle of Wight 'Wightlink' Wizards team in the Midland and Southern Development League.

Barry Bishop, co-promoter for the Isle of Wight and Oxfordshire born-and-bred, said: “Danyon is a fine rider, who will add real steel to the top end of the Cheetahs’ line-up, and his clashes against Georgie Wood and Ben Morley are something to look forward to.

“Meanwhile, Jamie is a young rider keen to break into the National League, and therefore will be keen to show that he can hold his own against the Wightlink Warriors’ reserves.”

Cheetahs’ club spokesman Rob Peasley said: “It’s really exciting how our line-up is taking shape. We’ve already got two family links to former Cheetahs - Connor Coles and Jamie Sealey - while we have a quality No 1 in Danyon Hume.

“Meanwhile, a lot of the longer-serving supporters are delighted that former World No 2 Gordon Kennett is managing the side, since he is a real legend of the club.”

Oxford fans are reminded that they can travel to the meeting by contacting the Supporters’ Club on: info@ossc.me.uk

A further two riders will be announced at the end of the week.
