To maintain the profile of our upcoming challenge against the Cheetahs, we are happy to share the Oxford Speedway Supporters Club's latest press release:
Connor Coles and Ryan-Terry Daley are the first two riders to be announced for Oxford Cheetahs in their special one-off clash against the Isle of Wight on Thursday, August 1st.
The National League challenge match will take place at the Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde.
Connor Coles is the son of Michael Coles, who rode for Oxford Cheetahs in the mid-nineties as part of a 25-year speedway career. Connor is a third-generation rider, since grandfather Bob was also a speedway rider, most notably with Exeter Falcons.
Connor will line up for Cheetahs in a heat-leader position. He rides for Edinburgh in the Championship and Stoke in the National League, and recently produced the all-important winning ride for Stoke Potters, to clinch the National League Fours for the club.
Connor Coles said: “I am delighted to be part of the Oxford team on August 1st. To be able to ride in the same side as one that my dad rode in has always been an honour and I am extremely proud to be a Cheetah for the night. “I love riding on the Island and I am happy to be going there again, where I hope I can pull my weight, so that it’s not just a memorable night for Cheetahs, but we come away with a win too.”
Ryan Terry-Daley is a solid middle-order rider and will line up as a second-string for Cheetahs. He has been competing in the National League since 2012, and he won the treble with Mildenhall in his first season. He started this season with the Isle of Wight, but recently joined Leicester.
Oxford fans can travel to the meeting by contacting the Supporters’ Club on: info@ossc.me.uk Alternatively, the Isle of Wight Warriors official website provides different methods to travel to the meeting: www.warriors-speedway.com
A further two riders will be announced early next week.
