Meeting Preview - Silver Ski Four Team Tournament At Kent

A quartet of riders representing the ‘Wightlink’ Warriors will make their third visit this season to the Kent Kings circuit in Sittingbourne on Monday (5 August), this time seeking success in the final round of the Silver Ski Holidays Four Team Tournament.

In addition to the hosts, the competition also includes Plymouth Gladiators and a select squad riding in the guise of the Breem Construction Stars. With two of the three rounds completed, the progressive scores are Plymouth 64, Warriors 57, Kings 47 and Stars 22.

Whilst there looks to be a fairly wide points spread between the top three sides, Kent - on home shale and with their available first choice quartet on parade - are sure to make a concerted bid to reel in the Gladiators and Warriors whilst the Stars have chosen a very useful four in a bid to bring some respectability back to the overall score line.

It certainly looks like it will build to a nail-biting conclusion and Warriors co-promoter Barry Bishop is quietly confident that his ‘awesome foursome’ has the ability to spring a surprise and come away winners.

He said, “The two rounds so far have been full of incident and some controversy with no quarter asked or given. Whilst Plymouth had a fantastic night on their track to take the lead overall I’m sure we can close that gap, however we mustn’t take any of the other sides lightly.

The meeting is packed full of riders who can upset the form book so we will need to stay composed, take our opportunities and ride with determination to do the best we possibly can”.

Provisional squads (alphabetical):

Kings: Dan Gilkes, Jordan Jenkins, Dew Kemp, Anders Rowe.

Stars: Connor Coles, Luke Harris, Danyon Hume, Paul Hurry.

Warriors: Connor King, Ben Morley, Danno Verge, Georgie Wood.

Gladiators: Richard Andrews, Adam Extance, Nathan Stoneman, David Wallinger.
