The first sidecar sppedway meeting for over ten years took place at Smallbrook Stadium last night and reigning British Champion Paul Whitelam, crewed by Richard Webb, took the honours in a close and exciting final race.
For much of it, it looked to be going the way of Mick Cave & Bradley Steer, however Cave clipped the inner kerb exiting turn four on the third lap allowing Whitelam and Webb to steam past and take Round 1 of this season's championship. With Cave retiring from the race, Mark Cossar and Sam Heath took a popular second place with Will Penfold and Ricky Pay finishing third.
