High speed fast track Motorcycle action returns to Smallbrook Stadium on Thursday after a two week break, when the Wightlink Warriors take on The Kent Kings (7pm).
The Wightlink Warriors are forced into a change as Chad Wirtzfeld is still out injured following a high speed crash while grass track racing and the remainder of the team is unchanged. The visitors have been also forced in to changes and bring a strong septet to the island.
The two teams were due to meet at Iwade in Kent last Sunday, but that fell foul to the inclement weather, at the time of writing a new restaging date for that had not been agreed, but 21st July is a date that is being discussed.
However the Kent team named for this match is much changed and former Warrior favourite Ben Morley will have plenty of support.
Morley, twice National League Riders champion will be joined at number 2 by Sam Woods, Woods has been around for some time and has plenty of experience at this level.
Nathan Hargrave will ride at number 3, Nathan from Ashford in Kent, has been a regular visitor to the Island, riding with Crayford in the past.
It’s at number 4 where Australian Dale Wood has been brought in, Wood crashed on his last visit damaging his shoulder, but there is no doubt if fit, he will be hard to stop.
The visitors have also brought in another change at number 5 with another Aussie in Patrick Hamilton, Hamilton has been riding in the championships in his home land regularly beating some of the big boys, and will be one for the Wightlink Warriors to contain.
Finally another change at number 6 and what a shrewd move this could be, and 15 year old teenage sensation William Cairns comes into the side, Cairns scored 10 points in the recent European 250cc title, only a chain snap preventing him from making a run off for a place on the rostrum, he has practiced at Smallbrook and certainly has caught the eye throughout the speedway world.
The Wightlink Warriors however, will field Skipper Arran Butcher at number 1, he will be looking to maintain his impressive home form.
He will be ably backed up by Sonny Springer who recorded a maximum on his debut against Cradley.
Former Warrior and Kent rider, Danno Verge, back from his 2 year retirement comes in at number 3, with German Henning Loof at number 4.
Jacob Clouting come in at 5 and homegrown talent and local rider Morgan Williams is at 6.
Promoter Barry Bishop stated, There is no doubt it will be tough meeting and we are looking forward to take on the challenge that Kent bring to us. It's sure to be action all the way and I hope the home fans make as much noise as they can throughout the meeting.
As well as the speedway action if you love old bikes, then there is also the 500cc upright championship qualifier, 12 riders, in 12 heats for a place in the final to be held later in the season, plus junior racing , plus the usual junior racing which starts at 6.15pm
The tapes will rise at 7pm for the main on what should be a very good meeting.
