From a Wizard to a Warrior

Wightlink Wizards star Morgan Williams steps up and joins the Wightlink Warriors main team for the season.

Island based and home grown talent Morgan Williams joins the Wightlink Warriors for the 2024 season. Morgan who has progressed from each stage of rider development will make his home debut on June 27th when the Wightlink Warriors take on Cradley in the first round of the Vince Mapley Trophy.

Team Manager Steve Piper said, “Morgan was always in my thinking for a Wightlink Warriors race jacket. He has progressed from My First Skid to the Wightlink Wizards as a regular and this is what rider progression is all about. The stepping stones of development.

Morgan had an exceptional year in 2023. He has improved his approach to race day and was racing with heart. He stepped in when we needed a rider for the Wightlink Warriors and his efforts, enthusiasm and all round ability deserves a place on the team full time. A home grown rider who is loved by the supporters, Morgan is an example of success who young riders starting out can look up to knowing that you can achieve your goals and dreams in Speedway on the Island. Morgan’s fantastic 2023 season caught my eye and am pleased he is in our 2024 side”.

Morgan said, “It’s an absolute pleasure to be asked to ride for the Warriors in 2024.  I’ve spent the winter maintaining and replacing a variety of parts on my bike as well as getting some much needed track time at the Winter Warmer events and My First Skid training schools on the island.

I’m glad to have now reached a level where I can accept a spot for my local team, racing at the venue that I was introduced to the sport at, raked the shale at, and learned to ride a speedway bike at.  It means a lot to be the first Isle of Wight born rider to represent the island at this level.  A massive thank you to my sponsors and supporters for helping me realise this possibility.

Being part of a team with experienced riders will hopefully lead to some further improvements in my riding, and I am determined to contribute to the team’s scoring, and hopefully help us win some meetings!”
