The Wightlink Warriors are delighted to announce the signing of 41 year old Henning Loof to the 2024 team. Henning who originates from Meldorf Germany has a wealth of knowledge about British Speedway and who we are sure can offer great advice to the junior members of the Warrior team.
Team manager Steve Piper said, “Barry Bishop told me Henning Loof had contacted him about rides available for the 2024 season as he was now based in the UK with James Shanes and wanted to return to speedway. This meant that the last piece of the jigsaw fell into place. The enthusiasm which Henning has shown since we spoke with each other has been incredible. I asked Henning to get some track time and I have seen that he scored well for a Rye House side last weekend and after a 7 year layoff was a great achievement. I am pleased Henning has joined our squad and am really looking forward to working with him.”
A delighted Henning added, “I reached out to Barry Bishop in the winter just to find out more about the NORA league as I wanted to get back into racing. To be honest, I did not expect to get an offer to actually ride for the Warriors but I had hoped for maybe some open meetings here and there. So I'm really delighted to be able to join the club.
I have just had my first meeting at Iwade riding for the Rye House Rockets and am now excited for the rest of the season. I really look forward to meeting the fans and volunteers at Smallbrook Stadium and I want to do really well for you all.”
You can watch Henning in his first meeting for the Wightlink Warriors on track Thursday 27th June when the Warriors take on the ARH Heathens in the first leg of the Vince Mapley Trophy.
