On Sunday 7th May 2017, whilst riding in Poland for Gorzow at Wroclaw in round 3 of the PGE EKSTRALIGA meeting, Krzysztof crashed in heat 1, lap 1 and on the entrance to turn 1. Coming out of Gate 2, he clipped the back wheel of Gate 1 Wroclaw rider Maciej Janowski which resulted in a nasty fall, a journey to hospital and the news that Krzysztof had broken his collarbone.
Krzysztof underwent surgery on Thursday 11th May in his home country, which was a success, and preceded to recover at home. Recovery has gone well and he is looking to start some light training in the gym on Monday 15th May. Although initially it was thought to be around 5 weeks before Krzysztof would make a return to the saddle, the operation success along with the progression of his great recovery gives genuine hope of a sooner comeback.
Speaking via his official Twitter account, Krzysztof says "The doctors are very pleased with my recovery and my shoulder is improving and getting stronger everyday. I will start practising on track in two weeks time and look forward to being back at Poole in June".
